Speculative Drawing

The book Speculative Drawing: 2011-2014 by German philosopher Armen Avanessian and illustrator Andreas Töpfer is one of the most important contemporary works exploring the intersection of philosophical and artistic thinking. It introduces readers to drawing not only as an illustration of text, but also as a medium through which contemporary thinking about the world can be communicated and conveyed. The Czech edition is supplemented by an updated introduction by Armen Avanessian and an authorial afterword in the form of a scholarly study by the book’s translators, Katarína Hládeková and Václav Janoščík, in which the authors offer an analysis of the book itself and its contextualisation within the field.
