SAKRAL 1991–2021

The book presents a retrospective of Marek Štěpán’s sacred architecture from the Velvet Revolution to the present day, an interview with the architect by Rostislav Koryčánek, and texts by Petr Okapal and Petr Kratochvíl. It is particularly significant that, alongside completed buildings, it also publishes unrealised projects and visions, typological variations of liturgical space based on a range of his own and historical examples, and above all a wealth of hand-drawn sketches that reveal the architectural thinking of this creative architect in today’s overly technological digital age. From this perspective, this publication is also important for the education of the next generation of architects, to which Marek Štěpán devotes himself with great dedication at his alma mater in Brno.
