Product description
"The Czech Technical University in Brno was founded in 1899. The BUT Archives marked the 120th anniversary by publishing profiles of the first 49 professors of the university who were appointed at the Czech Technical University in Brno during the Austro-Hungarian Empire (i.e. between 1899 and 1918). Among them we find, for example, the world-renowned mathematician Matyáš Lerch, electrical engineer Vladimír List, water management expert and Member of Parliament Antonín Smrček, lawyer František Weyr, multiple Minister of Finance Karel Engliš, water turbine expert Leopold Grimm, and many others. The profiles of the professors include biographical details, information about their family members, education, teaching, publishing and professional activities, with a brief assessment of their contribution to the field. The book is supplemented by photographs and signatures of the professors, as well as interesting quotations that are in some way related to their personalities."
