Product description

This monograph is dedicated to the architect Miloš Laml (1884-1964), who was professionally linked to Brno, but whose architectural and urban planning studies and projects extended across southern, central and northern Moravia and Silesia. Although he left behind an extensive body of work, no comprehensive study has yet been produced to provide an overview of it all. And yet, pupils and students still study in his school buildings, patients are treated in his hospital buildings, and people still live in his family homes and apartment blocks. Pavel Šopák’s (FA VUT) publication presents, for the first time in a comprehensive form, Laml’s realised and unrealised projects, including the Sokol Brno I stadium and community centre on Kounicova Street, the Institute of Forensic Medicine building on Tvrdého Street in Brno, the State Teacher Training College in Valašské Meziříčí, and the extensive pulmonary sanatorium complex in Jablunkov. The text is accompanied by an extensive pictorial supplement in the form of planning documentation and contemporary and historical photographs.
